Tree Preservation Order - TPO

This means that a tree preservation order is covering your property.

What does this mean?

This is an order that covers trees with amenity value, trees that are old and hold history. Also, the council can place orders on trees to protect them from bad tree cutters.

If you live in a town, city or in the country, there is a good chance you may have an order on your property To find out, simply phone the local council planning department and someone there should inform you.

It is just as well to check because trees removed, which are not under section 1998 of the British Standards Act if covered, could result in a fine. Be warned!
